Mission to Africa

In early August, Fr. Brian Holmes and Fr. John Bermingham travelled to Mozambique and Malawi to take the next steps towards establishing a new Mission, perhaps among Chichewa-speaking people.  The decision in principle to begin a Mission in Africa, a joint venture between the Redemptorists of the Dublin Province and the Redemptorists of the Vice-Province of Fortaleza, Brazil, was taken at our Provincial Chapter in January 2011.  (Fortaleza is a mission of the Irish Redemptorists).  Fr. Brian Holmes is the nominee of Brazil and Fr. John Bermingham the Irish nominee.

They hope to make recommendations to the leadership teams in February 2012 before further decisions are made.

A sending out Eucharist was celebrated in Mount St. Alphonsus on Sunday, July 31st at 12.00 noon at which the families of Brian and John attended.
