Finance Technician / Bookkeeper

Location:  Provincial Administration, St Joseph’s, Dundalk, Co. Louth A91 F3FC.

Reports and is responsible to the Head of Finance.

Status of Position:  Permanent

Hours:   Full Time

The Post:           

This is a new post developed to support the team in Redemptorist Headquarters in Dundalk. The post holder will also have a wide range of financial responsibilities associated with Redemptorist Communications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Providing day to day technical support to the Head of Finance in the preparation of accounts and budgets.

  1. Preparation of bank reconciliations.
  2. Management of customer relationships, including the oversight of transactions and debt management.
  3. Liaison with suppliers and ordering of stock and processing invoices.
  4. Ensuring the timely production of budgetary information for meetings.
  5. Providing support to Redemptorist Communities across Ireland as necessary.
  6. Management of petty cash.
  7. Reviewing financial systems to ensure best practice and effectiveness with all finances received.
  8. Maintaining up to date records and entering transactions associated with aspects of the business.
  9. Contributing effectively as a team member in the delivery of a robust financial service.
  10. Managing as required any direct reports in accordance with Redemptorist policies and procedures.

Qualification and Experience required:

  1. Hold an IATA qualification or suitable alternative qualification.
  2. Be familiar with Sage Accounting system and an ability to operate it.
  3. Have experience of completion of VAT returns and of compliance systems
  4. Have experience of a double entry accruals system.
  5. Have 2 years experience in a finance role in a business or charitable organisation at suitable level.
  6. Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  7. Make an effective contribution to the team both as a team member and in respect of people management as the need arises.


Personal Assistant to the Provincial

Location:  Provincial Administration, St Joseph’s, Dundalk, Co. Louth A91 F3FC.

Reporting to the Provincial of the Redemptorists and to the Head of Finance.

Status of Position:   Permanent

Hours:  Part-time, 25 hours per week.

The Post:

This post exists to provide secretarial and administrative support to the Provincial and the senior leadership team. The post holder is a key member of the small team and makes a significant contribution to the smooth running of the Provincial Office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the day to day running of a small office environment, liaising with suppliers and ordering of stock.
  2. Responding to all telephone and written enquiries received.
  3. Arranging meetings producing agenda, taking and producing notes for circulation.
  4. Preparing reports and correspondence as required.
  5. Maintenance of the filing system and relevant databases.
  6. Maintaining the province website and social media platforms.
  7. Making travel/accommodation arrangements for the Provincial and other congregation members as required.
  8. Ensuring the insurances for health, cars etc are up to date.
  9. Organising events on behalf of the Congregation to include meetings, conferences and visits.
  10. Petty cash and banking.

Qualifications and Experience required:

  1. Three years’ experience of working in a like post.
  2. Have knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office and Excel.
  3. Experience of updating web sites and online applications.
  4. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  5. Strong administrative skills.
  6. An ability to work flexibly.
  7. Candidate will need to be highly confidential in all areas of their work and have an awareness of GDPR


Part time Cook/Housekeeper

Location:  Redemptorist Community, Dun Mhuire, 461/463 Griffith Avenue, Dublin D09P9H9.

Hours of work- 930am-2pm.

  • Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
  • Friday, Saturday & Sunday alternatively.

Status:  Part time, 13.5 hours per week.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of food for the Community daily and will have housekeeping duties.

Essential criteria:

  • Experience of food preparation in small settings including an understanding of nutritional and dietary requirements.
  • Good working knowledge of HACCP requirements/good Health and Safety practices.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Be reliable, a good timekeeper and can relate well to others.


Employee Handbook

The Redemptorist Employee Handbook, first produced in 2009, was reissued in May 2016  in a revised and updated version.  It is designed to set out clearly the terms and conditions of employment with the Redemptorists. 

The Handbook gives details of employment policies, procedures and practices and sets out what is expected of staff and what they, in turn, can expect from the Redemptorists. Because legislation governing employment is different in both jurisdictions in Ireland, there are separate versions of the Handbook for Northern Ireland and Irish Republic.
