Cross-cultural Missionary Initiatives

Cross-cultural missionary initiatives by Redemptorists and co-workers are an important part of our heritage as a Province. Since the beginnings the Dublin Province in 1989, over 400 Irish Redemptorists have ministered outside of Ireland, in Australia, the Philippines, India, Brazil, Nigeria, the USA, Canada, the Caribbean, New Zealand, South Africa, Luxembourg, Denmark, Italy, Siberia, Surinam and elsewhere. At present, the Dublin Province has one Vice Province (Fortaleza). However, many Irish confreres engage in such initiatives in Ireland with migrants from other parts of the world.

The Province will continue to offer financial support to the Vice Province of Fortaleza until 2014 and to FICOM (Eastern European Units) for the next year at least. The communities of the Province continue to offer a generous welcome (and oftentimes sponsorship) to Redemptorists and lay Co-workers who spend time with us. We have committed Gerry O’Connor to the service of the Congregation in Africa and Madagascar. SERVE groups have offered service in the Philippines, India, Thailand, Brazil, Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
